1. Teeth Cleaning

Teeth cleaning & teeth whitening are two types of dental procedures that patients often get confused. However, these procedures & their goals are actually quite different. The primary goal of teeth cleaning is to remove plaque & tartar from the surface of the teeth, in order to prevent tooth decay& gum disease. The main objective of teeth whitening is to remove stains for cosmetic purposes. Teeth cleaning is important for the ongoing health of your teeth & gums, whereas teeth whitening procedures are purely cosmetic.

Some signs that you need a dental scaling procedure include:

  • Your gums are red, swollen, & sore.
  • Your gums bleed whenever you brush or floss.
  • Your teeth have begun to feel loose in your jaw.
  • You can see pockets forming between your teeth & gums.
  • You have chronic bad breath that does not go away after brushing, flossing, or using mouthwash

2. Dental Filling

Tooth-colored fillings, also known as composite fillings, have become the standard of care for most up-to-date dentists. They are now used much more often than amalgam or gold fillings and are more far more aesthetically pleasing than the other options.

3. Teeth Whitening

Whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. But this cosmetic procedure is not recommended for everyone.

How Long Do Whitening Effects Last?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. People who expose their teeth to foods and beverages that cause staining may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as one month. Those who avoid foods and beverages that stain may be able to wait one year or longer before another whitening treatment or touch-up is needed.

The degree of whiteness will vary from individual to individual depending on the condition of the teeth, the level of staining, and the type of bleaching system used.
